The moment Dutch passed, everything stopped.
No one warns you that something as common as a tennis ball could be deadly.
I didn’t know he’d been ingesting pieces over time. I never saw them pass. I didn’t even realize it was possible.
That’s what haunted me most.
After losing him, I couldn’t sit with the silence.
I needed answers.
I dug into the data, called vets, and started reaching out to universities.
That’s when I realized — there’s no dissolvable, pet-safe tennis ball on the market.
Nothing designed to protect dogs like Dutch.
So I decided to build it myself.
Dutch Ball began with one question: Why doesn’t this exist already?
But it quickly became something more — a mission to ensure no other pet owner feels this helpless again.
I filed the provisional patent. I designed the logo with Dutch’s face.
I connected with experts in food-safe polymers, veterinary science, and pet toxicology.
This isn’t just a product. It’s a promise.
Dutch gave me endless joy. Now, his legacy is saving dogs from a silent danger no one talks about.
Most dogs love tennis balls — but standard ones aren’t made with pet safety in mind.
They’re abrasive, they shed fibers,
and worst of all, they’re indigestible.
Dogs like Dutch can chew off small pieces over time without owners realizing. Those fragments don’t pass — they can lodge in the intestines, creating a deadly blockage.

most pet parents think.

This isn’t a treat. It’s not a chew.
It’s a playable toy with a safety fallback.
Dutch Ball is engineered for supervised fetch sessions — but in the unlikely case of ingestion, it’s designed to break down safely in the body.
That’s the innovation.
